He is on active staff at St. Joseph’s, Crouse Irving, Upstate University, Community General and Oneida Hospitals. He is also an instructor for the General Dental Residents at St. Joseph’s and Upstate Hospitals. Dr. Cardoso is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.     Dr. Candace Scruggs grew up in Massena, NY, and spent many years shadowing her father, Dr. Carl R. Scruggs, who is a general dentist. This ignited her passion for dental medicine. She returned to her upstate NY roots and has been practicing in Auburn, NY for the past 9 years. Dr. Scruggs joined Syracuse Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in June 2020 and is excited to continue providing excellent care for her patients. Dr. Scruggs is trained in full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgery including dentoalveolar surgery, pathology, implants, bone-grafting procedures, anesthesia, and facial trauma. She is an active member of many professional organizations. Dr. Scruggs is also a member of the medical staff at Auburn Community Hospital. She is married to Dr. Jon Ohnezeit who is a general dentist in Auburn, NY. Together they have two children, Grace and George. Dr. Scruggs enjoys spending time with her family, playing soccer, cooking, and traveling.

    Oral Surgeon

    In June 1996, Dr. Bourgeois reported to Naval Dental Center San Diego, California for duty as Division Officer, General Dentistry Department. He then took responsibility as Branch Director, Branch Dental Clinics Fleet Industrial Supply Center San Diego, Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach, California, and Naval Air Facility El Centro, California. Dr. Bourgeois was selected for Federal Training Out Service and entered the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center San Antonio, Texas in July 1998. Based on his performance during his initial three years, he was selected as the service’s Administrative Chief Resident in his final year in the program.
